Do you think playing computer games helps depression or does it cause obsessiveness?

An ad on tv said computer games can relieve stress. Do you agree or do you think it may lead to other problems?Do you think playing computer games helps depression or does it cause obsessiveness?
Computer games can relieve stress for some people and cause stress for others.

They do not cause depression and do not cause obsessiveness, although they can become the target of obsessions. People who have depression will have it regardless of the games they play. People who are obsessive will have obsessions, if not a game, then something else.

Games can be either good or bad for a person, not because of any property intrinsic to the games, but because of what the player brings to the game.
I think it causes depression. I don't know any happy people who play a lot of computer games. Most of them are isolated and distant from society. I think physical activity, limited time spend on the computer (for a given purpose) and being outside and with other people is helpful for depression. Computer games provide none of that.Do you think playing computer games helps depression or does it cause obsessiveness?
Any enjoyed activity can help diminish the symptoms of depression as long as it's not done excessively. If you become dependent on it, then it can lead to other problems.
Leads to other problems. A lot of other problems. Better off reading books and finding something else you like than playing mindless computer games.Do you think playing computer games helps depression or does it cause obsessiveness?
I'd say it's both.
