What's the best video file format to use for recording computer games?

Me and my friends are planning to record videos for our computer games to put on youtube, I have another video recording software on the computer other than fraps. Any help?What's the best video file format to use for recording computer games?
If you want the best quality for youtube; I would recommend H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4. MPEG4 is your best bet.

I Uploaded a video to Youtube awhile ago and found..



Cause it was a small video i converted it to MPEG2 (High Def)



And the Picture was much better (It was a Minecraft Video)

AVI because it is compatible with most video editing programs, uploading and so forth.

It's fast, standard RGB colour, small file size etc
