Whats the best computer on the market right now for playing Computer Games?

I want a computer that can play Spore, Crysis. games like that. a computer that will run fast while playing those games and a computer thats not too expensive. Im looking for something in the $600-$800 range. I dont need a monitor either. got one already. thanks.Whats the best computer on the market right now for playing Computer Games?
With your price range, just about any brand will do.

Just find a nice desktop with a good graphic card (very important), good processor and RAM memory will obviously help with performance as well. Good sound cards not only improve audio, but can also affect performance as well.

Maybe when you have a bigger budget, try looking at some Alienware computers. They're really expensive, but they're basically made for gaming.Whats the best computer on the market right now for playing Computer Games?
CompUSA has a refurbished Gateway with a quad core, 4gb of ram, and a 512mb 8800GT for $649. It's a pretty good deal, though I'll tell you the best deal is a custom built model.

Alienware is overpricedWhats the best computer on the market right now for playing Computer Games?
you will be able to play spore and crysis with a comp between that price closer to the $800 range though but it cant play it top notch and wont

Is there any funding available for students studying computer games software development?

I live in Scotland and have almost completed my first year studying computer games software development at Glasgow Caledonian University. I really enjoyed the course and have got good marks to show for it but I am worried that in later years I won't have as much time to dedicate to the course because I work 30+ hours a week to cover to living costs. Is there any funding available for students studying computer games software development?
Most universities have access to additional grants and hardship fund information but you will find it hard to access if you are managing. You will manage to study and work as well, simply because you have too.

Can you pay for computer games at the self checkout in walmart?

i know you cant buy phone cards but can you buy computer games? Can you pay for computer games at the self checkout in walmart?
Yes, but if the game has an R rating, a cashier may have to come over and verfiy your ID....However, I'm not sure about your area, but where I live, anything you purchase from electronics, you're required to pay for it in that department., and the same still goes for the ID.
Yes, if you would so choose. Personally, I pay for mine in that particular section. Can you pay for computer games at the self checkout in walmart?
I have to pay for it in the electronics department.
I believe you also can order the games online with a gift card and it'll save you the hastle of going to the store and the game will arrive within a few days you ordered it. I had ordered a DVD at walmart and it arrived in the mail within a week and I paid with a gift card, too.

Computer games to ALL be given the same ratings as films would get?

I thought this was already the case?

Was I wrong, have they not been censoring (by age to purchase) the computer games people buy or have they just cracked down harder?

I don't buy computer games so I wouldn't know but can anyone tell me what has been the case and what the changes would be?

ThanksComputer games to ALL be given the same ratings as films would get?
It doesn't seem to make much difference anyway. Films are rated but it still comes down to responsible parenting. The number of children who tell me they have watched 18 films at home and at friends houses is absolutely unbelievable. Some of the things they watch I would never dream of watching. They watch them and most of their parents know they do. Perhaps it is time to stop young children having TV's and PC in their rooms. At least then responsible parents can monitor what their children are doing.
leave things the way they are.Computer games to ALL be given the same ratings as films would get?
Age rating will stop children buying the games from the shops

but they will still swap games amoung themselves and get to play the violent ones.
I was under the impression they were already given a rating

At least I thought they were after I was asked for ID at the age of 20 when buying one of the Grand Theft Auto'sComputer games to ALL be given the same ratings as films would get?
I was wondering about this too, surely most video games are so expensive that most kids can't afford them, so it doesn't matter what rating they get as the parents will buy them anyway.

Personally I think there should be some sort of check on what content is allowed in these games, some of them just seem so violent, they can't be good for kids.
Great it's about time i was censored!....
The maturity level is known by the sales people that sell the games... Children need parents with them in order to buy certain games...
Games are given different ratings from movies. I suppose this means there's going to be some sort of consistency for classification between the different formats.
Extremely violent or horror games are already given ratings. I presume that they are on about reviewing the guidelines and introducing more categories for the different levels of violence. I don't really think that doing this will change anything though seeing as stopping the kids from playing the games will just give them more time to spend drinking on the streets. What self respecting 15 year old will lower themselves to playing Mario in the evening?
i doubt it will make any difference some dunderhead parents will still be buying inappropriate games for their little kiddies just to keep em quiet ! x
Games are given ratings like "E" for Everyone, "E 10+" Everyone 10 or older, "T" Teen, "M" Mature, etc.

The MPAA gives the G, PG, PG 13, R, NC 17.

I think if the MPAA ratings were applied to the video games, it would be a lot easier for the parents, because they are more familiar with the movie's ratings.

  • I need a study on: What are the cognitive skills developed by preschoolers in 2d platform computer games?

What are the cognitive skills developed by preschoolers in 2d platform computer games?

you can answer it directly if you want.

please provide me some links, books, ebooks(pdf..etc) links or any other resources that i can put in my research bibliography.I need a study on: What are the cognitive skills developed by preschoolers in 2d platform computer games?
I won't provide you with links because I don't think Google is broken. Here's my opinion on the subject:

I think 2d platform computer games teach children eye-hand coordination through the mouse. I think it enhances their spatial skills. Children's games usually have a subject such as reading, counting, or sorting so those are some cognitive skills they learn as well.

I also think that it teaches them language if the program has sound, and literacy awareness.

What is your opinion/thoughts on Violent Computer Games ?

Do you think Computer Games are becoming more Violent these days? What is your opinion/thoughts on Violent Computer Games ?What is your opinion/thoughts on Violent Computer Games ?
I love video games and I am a huge gamer. One of the types of games that I enjoy and play a lot of are violent video games. I don't have any problem with violent video games because these are just pixelated, animated 3D characters that are being violent, it's not like these characters are real life humans getting hurt. Some people argue that violent video games cause kids to be violent in real life and I completely disagree. Since I was little, I played children's games, but I also played violent games like Robocop versus Terminator and Mortal Kombat (one of the best, bloodiest fighting games ever), but even as a child, I knew that those violent images were NOT REAL. I also thank God that I came from a good Christian home and I was raised in the way of God. So even though I played video games like that, I was not going to kill anybody in real life because that did not cross my mind as a child, (to me I was just having fun playing videogames) and killing is wrong and a sin.

As far as if videogames are more violent these days...honestly, I don't think so. I think that videogames then and now had the same amount of violence, it's just that now the graphics of videogames are so much better than back then so that's why it might look more violent. Back in the day, there were so many violent video games like the Mortal Kombat series which even nowadays when I play old Mortal Kombat games I still find the violence to be brutal and gruesome. Games like Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 and Code Veronica, legacy of cain, silent hill, those are also old school games that are extremely violent.

I would say that games are more offensive. What I mean is that, to me, video games are still as violent as back in the day but now they are not only violent but offensive in the sense that they include sexual themes and say degrading, offensive words. Like games like Saints Row and Saints Row 2, Grand Theft Auto are really violent games but they are offensive because the characters swear a lot, women in these games are degraded, there is nudity and sex so that's what I mean. But I do love Saints Row 2 because it is so much fun despite the offensiveness.

Violent video games do not bother me at all. Like I said, the characters are not real and I find them fun. Games like Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Ninja Gaiden, Dead Rising, Call of Duty series and so on are violent but they are so much fun.
The ESRB rating system is there for a reason, follow it and this wouldn't even be a relevant topic. Also, no they are not becoming more violent, their just getting close to emulating things that happen in real life, maybe its not games that are getting more violent, its us, ever thought of that? What is your opinion/thoughts on Violent Computer Games ?
Well, they are bound to be. Everytime I look there is either a new WW2 shooter or some tactical shooter huha out there so obviously we get an increase in violence, if only by sheer mass.

Now as a singular unit... Not so much. I think violence more or less peaked with Mortal Kombat's finishing moves. True you got excessive dismemberment (Soldier of Fortune anyone?) but now it is mostly more 'real' hitzones (nut shots), better physics (oh look I shot him on the stairs and he rolled down) and of course better graphics.

My thoughts? They are fine and it is better when someone has an outlet for his rage and anger other than going out on the street and setting bums on fire.

there is violence in real life

i wouldn't let little kids play with this game, but as an adult?....this game can be a little funWhat is your opinion/thoughts on Violent Computer Games ?
It depends. Some may think that it may be a violent game, some may not.
