What type of tv is best suited to use as a computer monitor to play computer games on?

What type of tv is best suited for use as a computer screen for playing games. Does the graphics look great on the tv or better on a computer monitor? What are the pros and cons of using a tv as a computer monitor for computer games? Is there a blur on the tv screen just like when you move the mouse too quickly on a computer monitor? What type of tv is best suited to use as a computer monitor to play computer games on?
No TV has better resolution than an average monitor.

HDTV is pitiful resolution compared to the average computer.

To put it in context- regular US tv (NTSC) is 640x480 (which is why that used to be the computer normal resolution). HDTV's more like 1024x768 (it's not that, but it's something near).

My computer's running at 1600x1200. No TV will come close to that resolution.
I think it would be an HDTV. From what I know LCD is as effective as Plazma. They come in all kinds of sizes and are very affordable now for use as a PC monitor. You can also just buy a digital LCD monitor and probably save a few bucks.

You have to check the specifications of the TV's to see which has better graphis capabilities. If you are not familiar with choosing a digital LCD monitor or HDTV you should not rush into buying one, but as a general rule, the more expensive it is usually you will be getting a better graphic quality tv / monitor..

Yea you will probably still see a blur on the TV screen the same as on a computer monitor, unless you upgrade your graphics on your PC with the best graphic card you can afford. I would guess some of the pro's and con's of using a TV as a monitor are:

viewing distance - you will be further away with a TV

Pretty much everthing else as far as pro and con depend on what you buy. The more you are able to afford a top quality TV with good refresh rate, response time, pixil density, and contrast ratio the better game playing you will have and enjoy. What type of tv is best suited to use as a computer monitor to play computer games on?
i would recommended a 1080p HD LCD TV. 1080p is the highest resolution you can get on a tv and LCD gives you a nice picture without getting burn in like plasma. However a monitor is always better because it offers higher resolution. For games this means that you will get better detail. There might be a blur when you move your mouse but this mostly depends on the quality of the tv.
a computer monitor will always provide you better resolution and a clearer picture when hooked up to a computer, than a TV. That said, if you really want to hook up to something other than a monitor, look for an LCD tv, or an HD CRT TV. Avoid plasma because of the burn in that *will* occur with games and standing images. What type of tv is best suited to use as a computer monitor to play computer games on?
You should look into getting an LCD with a response time of 8ms or less. A TV and a monitor are basically the same thing except the TV is larger then the monitor.
