Lots. There are sites called Bonus.com and Beta.bonus.com
Theres a popular 100% free online game called battlefield at playbattlefield.com which the kids might need help making an email account to register or they can use there parents email etc. Its a super safe game because it is online so you will be playing with lots of other people but there is no real communication so you can't type messages to other users.
Part 2 to battlefield is also in a beta state at beta.bonus.com which does not always work sense its also in a beta I never played it yet.
Depending on the kids ages theres some good real games by real I mean not Free and made by a company that you need to buy.
The sims2 is great but has some mild sexual content nothing serious which can be avoided. I would let a 8 year old play the sims2 maybe even 6. RollerCoaster Tycoon3 is a really fun game for kids of all ages.
If they are really young its better to stay with bonus.com
GIVE CHILDREN SOME mind games, less voilent mission games- so that their minds may start thinking, some other games which contain unkind species for making their imaginatition strong.

It would depend on their ages. If they're very young, keep in mind what tv shows or movies they like. There are usually game tie-ins. Some are even fun for adults, if you need to help them a bit.
There are a whole bunch of Scooby Doo games. My 6 yr. old loves them. There are parts he can do completely on his own, and a few things he may need help with, but even then, he likes watching me play. Another good series is the Pajama Sam games.
Some of the better movie spin off games are Ice Age, Chicken Little and Charlotte's Web.
If your kids are a bit older, they can help you pick out their games. Just keep away from anything to violent. I like to purchase games on Amazon. You can check out the children's section. What's especially nice is that you can read reviews that people wrote about the games. Might prevent you from buying a stinker.
Some games that were meant for a console (xbox, playstation, etc.) don't work well when adapted for computers. We LOVE the Starwars Legos games on xbox. But I bought the first one for our pc ... the controls were horrible! And surprising to me, most Disney games had bad controls. The camera angles made it impossible to play a whole bunch of Buzz Lightyear / Toy Story games. You'd think Pixar would be better at a pc game!
