Is a 512mb graphics card good for computer games?

I need to get a new graphics card for my computer and it has to be PCI express x16. I just need one to play games on my computer without paying a ridiculous amount of money.Is a 512mb graphics card good for computer games?

You have to consider gpu clock, vram clock, gpu nus width etc. Games based on DirectX 9c will run pretty good on 512mb graphics card. You can try Nvidia 9400gt.
